Teach English in DPRK (North Korea) for 3 Months
Global Aid Network is establishing a conversational English training program at the Kum Song Computer Talent Training Centre (KCTTC) in Pyongyang, DPR Korea, for government selected students. These courses will provide a high level of English language training, including enhancing speaking, reading, and comprehension skills. This program will have 2 teachers (English as their first language) on staff. The mission of this program is not only to provide the highest level of teaching, but also to demonstrate leadership through friendship and life skills examples. The opportunity to make a significant difference to these students is enormous, as they are selected to learn English due to their potential to occupy positions of influence in DPRK.
Job Description
- Be prepared to teach and lead a class room of 10-20 students in all areas of English as a Second Language.
- Be competent in implementing curriculum [lectures, assignments, tests and other subjects as required] independently and as a team.
- Teachers should be prepared to develop interpersonal relationships through lifestyle, actions and one-on-one friendships.
Qualifications required:
- A University degree.
- A current TESL certificate or equivalent.
- Good communication and inter personal skills.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or citizen of a country where English is the first language.
- Minimum age preferred: 23 years of age, couples will be considered.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Endorse and agree to the Lifestyle Agreement and Statement of Faith of GAIN.
- Team player and previous experience in leading small groups is an asset.
Term commitment is 3 months, with opportunity to renew.
Training
Cross cultural training will be given before leaving for DPRK. Once applicants are approved, training to develop a ministry support partnership team will be given.
In DPRK: Airfare and local transportation, medical and travel insurance, visa expenses and accommodation will be provided. Candidates will be expected to raise financial support to cover:
