Benin 2008 Update
March 2008
A total of 65 wells have now been drilled into the earth, bringing clean water to 65,000 people. We’re also beginning a well rejuvenation program for villages where existing deep wells have been drilled by other parties but have become blocked by silt or sand with time. This new strategy will restore clean water at approximately the third of the cost to drill a new well and take less time, as well. Thank-you on behalf of those you may never meet, whose health, future, and hope are being restored by clean water!
Here’s an account of another village, shared with us by our in-country staff:
Village of Sanon – north Benin, Borgou province
“In the past, it was difficult to get water. We had to wake up early and walk very far in order to find water, but it was dirty water and we were always became sick from drinking it. Now that water is close to us, we have enough time at night to sleep well. Thank-you, thankyou, thank-you! We just cannot thank you enough for bringing us this water!”
At a cost of $5,950 per well and with the generous choice of supporters to give, these multiplied benefits will flood into other villages as we continue providing lifesaving water, physical and spiritual to the needy people of Benin.
