A.L.E.R.T. Emergency Response Team
A.L.E.R.T. stands for Acts of Love Emergency Response Team.
It is designed to provide immediate holistic emergency response to disasters – whether medically, emotionally, psychologically, or spiritually.
It is composed of a team of highly trained emergency response professionals – paramedics, registered nurses, doctors, clinical psychologists, counselors, and hygiene specialists that seek to help people affected by conflict and/or calamity by meeting their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs.
How ALERT works
An initial team is mobilized to fly within 48-72 hours to a disaster site. They assess what the greatest needs are and begin planning to utilize GAiN’s resources to meet those needs.
- A second team of registered nurses and clinical counselors arrives when the initial team prepares to leave allowing for critical data exchange.
- This team provides basic medical care and trains locally selected volunteers in personal hygiene, sanitation and basic counseling skills. This empowers nationals to meet the needs of their people both psychologically and spiritually.
- GAiN also provides medical intervention through their ongoing humanitarian aid projects.
